Full lounge restoration —
the level above cleaning.
Colour, texture and protection — restored end-to-end
Restoration isn't cleaning. Cleaning only removes what sits on top; restoration rebuilds the colour, the texture, the feel and the protective finish. For anything beyond surface dust, restoration is what actually resets the life of the piece.
From $299 · Typically 5–15% of replacement cost

Why it happens
When does a lounge need full restoration?
Restoration is the right call when cleaning won't move the dial — when the colour, the texture or the protective coat itself has failed across multiple panels. Here's what we usually see in Canberra homes that pushes a lounge from cleaning territory into restoration territory.
Read: why does leather crack?Colour fade across the suite
When the sun-side seats are visibly different to the rest of the lounge, you're past cleaning. Colour restoration brings the whole suite back into balance.
Texture loss on contact zones
Headrests, armrests and the front edge of seats often go shiny and feel different. The protective coat has worn off and the leather underneath needs sealing.
Multiple cracking panels
Once two or more panels show crazing, the whole suite is dehydrated. Spot repair won't keep up — restoration conditions every panel before re-colouring.
Cleaning product damage
DIY sprays and supermarket leather wipes strip the protective film unevenly. The result is a patchy, mottled look that only restoration can reset.
Old leather loss of suppleness
Lounges 10+ years old often feel stiff and dry. We rehydrate first, then rebuild the surface — and they sit and feel like a much newer piece.
After a recover or a move
If sections have been recovered or repaired piecemeal in the past, restoration unifies the colour and finish so the suite looks intentional again.

Leather types we restore
Different leather, different approach.
Identifying the leather is the first thing we do on every job — the wrong product on the wrong leather can ruin a panel in minutes. Here's what we work with most often in Canberra homes and cars.
Full grain
The strongest, most natural-looking leather — used on premium couches and luxury car seats. Develops patina and responds beautifully to restoration.
Top grain
The most common furniture leather. Sanded and pigmented for consistency. Cracks and colour fades respond extremely well to recolouring.
Aniline & semi-aniline
Soft, dye-through leathers favoured by Italian and Scandinavian brands. Sensitive to UV and oils — usually needs gentle cleaning plus protective conditioner.
Pigmented (protected)
Coated leather with a colour film on top. The most durable and most repairable — colour matching gets it back to factory finish in nearly all cases.
Bonded leather
Composite material with a leather coating. Often peels rather than cracks. We can patch, recolour and seal small areas — but full panels eventually need recovering.
Nubuck & suede
Brushed-finish leathers. Cleaned with specialised foam and re-napped — never solvent-cleaned. Stains come out far more often than people expect.

Before
After“We thought we'd have to replace the whole suite. Sam's team restored the entire 3+2+1 across two days, and it's genuinely better than new — the colour is more even than when it was delivered. Sat us back about $1,400 instead of $9,000.”
Why it matters who you choose
Independent specialist
vs franchise network.
Most Canberra customers don't realise until the quote arrives that the national brand they just rang is a franchise — with franchise fees, a call centre and a variable local operator.
Franchise network
The usual experience
- Franchise fees passed to clients
- You deal with a call centre — not your technician
- Quality varies by individual franchisee
- Generic national products and processes
- Response time depends on territory operator

Send a photo now →Cleaning removes surface contaminants. Restoration rebuilds what's underneath — colour, protective coat, conditioning. If your leather is cracking, fading, shiny or patchy, cleaning alone won't fix it.
Often yes. If the substrate is still intact (no major tears in the underlying leather), we can re-colour and re-seal old leather back to a better-than-factory finish. Send us photos and we'll tell you honestly.
No. All work is done in-home. We lay drop sheets and work around existing placement. For some recliner suites we may ask you to keep children and pets out of the room for 4–6 hours while the coat cures.
A two-seat takes 3–4 hours. A three-seat 4–6 hours. A full suite (3+2+1 or recliner bank) is typically done across a single day with a follow-up visit to buff and check the cured finish.
