Process

Quote. Restore. Protect.

  1. 01

    Quote

Texture and colour-match assessment from your photo. We identify whether the vinyl is PVC or polyurethane and match the exact factory grain pattern.

  2. 02

    Weld

A liquid chemical compound fuses with the existing vinyl at the molecular level — the patch becomes part of the panel, not a surface-bonded sticker that tears free in months.

  3. 03

    Texture

Factory-grain mould pressed into the curing repair. Once textured, the repair is invisible — it stretches, flexes and ages exactly like the original.

  4. 04

    Colour & seal

OEM-match colour applied and sealed with a flex-tolerant topcoat that ages with the surrounding vinyl. Single continuous panel, no patch line.

Why it happens

Why Canberra is hard on vinyl

Vinyl is a durable material — but the ACT climate is hard on it in ways most boat, bike and commercial owners underestimate. Almost every job we see comes back to one of the same six causes.

Read: why does leather crack?
  • UV intensity

Outdoor vinyl in the ACT sees the highest sustained UV exposure on the eastern seaboard. Plasticisers leach out and the surface becomes brittle within 5–7 years.

  • Temperature cycling

The −5°C to 60°C cabin and cockpit cycle stresses the vinyl every day. Cracks form along seam lines first, then spread.

  • Lake-side moorings

Burley Griffin, Ginninderra and Tuggeranong storage exposes marine vinyl to algae, sustained sun and high humidity. Mildew tracks form along the underside of seams.

  • Off-road damage

4WD seats and trim get torn by gear, packs and luggage on Brindabella and Namadgi runs. We re-weld the panel rather than replacing it.

  • Commercial wear

Civic and Manuka venues with leather/vinyl booth seating cycle through hundreds of customers a week. The same booth corner wears through year after year.

  • Dry winter air

ACT winter humidity drops below 30% for months at a time. The remaining moisture leaches out of foam-backed vinyl and accelerates cracking.

Pricing

From $199
no surprises.

Vinyl jobs scale by panel size and texture complexity. A single tear in an automotive seat is around $175. A full marine bench restoration runs $400–$750. Commercial booth banks are quoted per booth, typically $250–$500 across hospitality fitouts. Trade rates available for upholsterers and trimmers.

Why it matters who you choose

Independent specialist

Most Canberra customers don't realise until the quote arrives that the national brand they just rang is a franchise — with franchise fees, a call centre and a variable local operator.

Franchise network

The usual experience

  • Franchise fees passed to clients

  • Quality varies by individual franchisee

Questions we get

Questions — answered.

Don't see your question? Ask us directly →

  • Vinyl is synthetic — a PVC or polyurethane material printed and embossed to look like leather. Modern vinyl is genuinely durable and looks identical to leather to most observers. Repairs are easier than leather because the surface is uniform, but it requires a specialised welding system to bond invisibly.

  • Yes — we have a library of vinyl texture moulds covering every common pattern from automotive grain to marine pebble-grain to coarse commercial booth texture. We mould the texture from a hidden section of your panel before the repair so the match is exact.

  • Yes — many Canberra upholsterers send us their colour-match and texture-match work where they need a panel restored rather than replaced. Call the studio to discuss a trade rate.

  • Across the ACT and Queanbeyan, including Lake Burley Griffin, Lake Ginninderra and Lake Tuggeranong moorings. We come to your slip, hardstand or trailer.
