    Surface assessment

    Identify substrate (full grain, top grain, aniline, fabric, plastic, vinyl, wood) and existing condition. Coatings only go on surfaces that'll benefit — we won't apply them to surfaces that don't need them yet.

  2. 02

    Decontamination

    pH-balanced clean and surface decontamination. Old wax, polish, dirt and skin oils are stripped before coating — you can't bond a barrier to a contaminated surface and expect it to last.

  3. 03

    Application

    Geist Certified coating applied in two coats for leather and fabric, single coat for plastic and vinyl. Same product systems used by leading automotive and furniture restoration specialists worldwide.

  4. 04

    Cure & document

    30–120 minute cure depending on surface. Written care schedule and 12-month workmanship warranty issued on completion. No financial-product warranty, no exclusion fine print.

Four surface categories — what we protect

We've consolidated coating options around the four surface categories that actually need protecting in a typical Canberra home or vehicle. Each category uses a different Geist Certified system — they're not interchangeable, and a generic Scotchgard treatment won't do what these products do.

  • Leather (furniture and auto)

    Furniture leather, car seats, leather steering wheels, leather lounges. The coating creates an invisible barrier against UV (the #1 cause of leather aging in Canberra), oils and skin acids (#2), and dye-transfer from denim and clothing. Reduces wear by 70%+ over the life of the leather.

  • Fabric (couches, car cloth seats, carpets)

    Cloth lounges, fabric armchairs, automotive cloth seats, residential and automotive carpets. Professional-grade — significantly stronger than retail Scotchgard. Repels red wine, coffee, juice, milk; prevents stain bonding; kid-and-pet-resistant. Doesn't change feel or breathability.

  • Plastic and vinyl

    Dashboard plastic, door card vinyl, RV interior surfaces, boat vinyl. UV-blocking topcoat prevents the fading and crazing that's so common on Canberra cars after 5–7 years. Easy-clean surface — cleaning takes seconds, not soaking.

  • Wood and high-end finishes

    Recently restored wood trim, antique furniture, classic car wood. UV-protective lacquer overlay extends the life of any restored wood by 2–3x compared to leaving it untreated.

    Retailer protection plans cost $200–$500 and bundle generic Scotchgard with thick warranty paperwork that excludes about 80% of what they claim to cover.   • No. Properly applied, the coating is invisible — it doesn't change the hand-feel, breathability, or appearance of the surface. Aniline leather still feels and looks aniline; cloth still breathes like cloth.

  • Geist Certified products are professional-grade with significantly stronger barrier properties than retail Scotchgard. We also apply them with proper preparation and cure cycles — surface decontamination, controlled humidity, full dwell time. Retail products skip all of that, which is why they don't last.

  • No. The coatings are surface-only and non-reactive with the substrate underneath, so they don't void any manufacturer warranty. We can confirm in writing if your retailer or dealer asks.

  • No — these products are professional-grade and require proper surface preparation, application technique, and cure cycles. The DIY products available retail are significantly weaker and don't bond the same way. The product is only half the result; the application is the other half.

  • We re-apply at no charge under our 12-month workmanship warranty. Outside that period, we offer the annual maintenance program at maintenance pricing — annual surface check, light re-coat where needed, full report. Maintains your warranty in perpetuity.
